After filming the footage from scene 2 that included the woman's part of the story, we had to capture it on Final Cut Pro. However there was many difficulties with this as for some reason only certain amounts of footage was being captured at one time, although there was nothing we were able to do so we had to continue capturing in this way. This took up quite a bit of time out from editing, so as soon as the footage was captured I began to rename the clips straight away and started to edit the opening clips of Amy (the woman).
However the next time when I came to edit the advert, all the footage of Amy which was previously named had gone. With some assistance from one of the tutors we found the clips and named them once again after uploading them on to Final Cut again. This became a running problem for a week, as everytime I opened up 'A Childhood Never Goes Away' the footage of Amy wasn't there, so everytime I logged on I had to import all the clips of her again. For some unknown reason, after a week of this the footage stopped disappearing which enabled me to continue editing without this problem.
Although when one problem disappears another one soon fills in it's places, as after adding the soundtrack of 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' to the edited advert, it didn't sync with the actresses singing. As part of the storyline, the girl sings "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and the woman continues the song with "How I wonder what you are". However when the sing this, it didn't match the rhythm of the song, so I had to cut part of this soundtrack and add the chorus to this part of the song. This was quite difficult as now the song didn't flow throughout, after changing and adding fades to the soundtrack to make it flow, I was still very unsuccessful.
I came close to completing the soundtrack although to another unknown reason, when I came to edit again all the timeline had jumped which made me go back to square one with editing the soundtrack. After various changing and editing to this I managed to make the soundtrack flow throughout the advert. There was pretty not much more to do accept tidy up the pre production paperwork and place it into a folder, although after a couple of second opinions Ashton and I decided to edit one last time. As after researching into existing adverts with the similar issue of child abuse, I noticed that many scenes of the children were shown in black and white. After changing the colours of the clips of the young girl to black and white, we both came to an agreement that the advert looked better this way so we chose to keep them scenes in black and white.
Our extended advert production 'A Childhood Never Goes Away' was exported to a quick time movie and is officially completed!
